The origins of marine and non-marine boulder deposits: a brief review

چکیده

Abstract We identify 14 mechanisms, marine and non-marine, one man made, that result could in the formation of boulder deposits after reviewing issues associated with clast shape, size classification. Four these mechanisms: storm deposits; waterspouts; cliff collapse; catastrophic flooding below sea level, may produce stretching for significant distances along shorelines which be confused historical or prehistoric tsunami deposits. However, recent debate has more specifically focused on parameters can employed distinction between coarse-grained deposits, both occur same location. argue features such as size, areal distribution shape are not uniquely characteristic either deposit. Rather, a wide variety parameters, reflect period frequency transporting waves, need to taken into account. Such analyses aided by profiles evaluate variation modeled flow velocities distance from shoreline. Finally, we compare contrast characteristics coarse grained those northeast Atlantic aid identification wave.

Although the widespread distribution of venomous marine worms around the world, the structural and toxinologcal studies of their toxins are still limited. This study was aimed to evaluate the toxicity of poisonous marine worms. Touching the cilium of Chloeia flava and Sipuncula marine worms cause painful inflammation of the skin. Many species of nemertines prey their victims by a flexible prob...

Neurotoxins from Marine Dinoflagellates: A Brief Review

Dinoflagellates are not only important marine primary producers and grazers, but also the major causative agents of harmful algal blooms. It has been reported that many dinoflagellate species can produce various natural toxins. These toxins can be extremely toxic and many of them are effective at far lower dosages than conventional chemical agents. Consumption of seafood contaminated by algal t...

Temporal–spatial stability of competition in marine boulder fields

Demonstrable examples of marine interference-competition on ecological, and particularly evolutionary, time-scales have been highly confined in space. However, studies of such competition across large-scale space are conversely mere ‘snapshots’ in time. The current study aimed at measuring interference-competition at multiple scales in space and time. Different aspects of interference-competiti...

Synthesis and Bioactivity of a Cyclopolypeptide from Caribbean Marine Sponge

Synthesis of a natural proline-rich cyclopolypeptide - rolloamide A [8] was carried out by coupling of tri- and tetrapeptide units Boc-Phe-Pro-Val-OMe and Boc-Pro-Leu-Pro-Ile-OMe after proper deprotection at carboxyl and amino terminals using carbodiimide chemistry in alkaline environment followed by cyclization of linear heptapeptide segment in the presence of base. The structure of synthesize...
